The village church in Elsnigk is on or on a side route of the R1, the German Unity cycle path runs along here, also the D11, Baltic Sea-Upper Bavaria (source: wikipedia). Elsnigk is also on the Luther Trail.

The church right on the thoroughfare is hard to miss. The hall with the west tower and apse dates from 1877. The stepped gable in the east, the roof and tower covering as well as the apse and gable have been renovated in recent years.

The church is an open church for physical and spiritual refueling from O to O, from Easter to October. Water is available for pilgrims and cyclists, and you can take a breather in the winter church.

Special feature: The church is part of the glass art project Lichtungen, in which church windows in need of renovation are replaced with modern windows designed by artists. The project is accompanied by the Evangelical Church of Anhalt, the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments and Archeology (Halle) and the support group "Entschlusse Kirchen im Kirchenkreis Zerbst" e. V.. Meanwhile, more than 30 churches belong to this "pilgrimage of glass art".

The first five windows for the church in Elsnigk (three on the south side, two smaller ones on the west side) were presented in early 2023. The windows designed by Christian Keinstar were made by the Peters glass workshop in Paderborn. The Evangelical Church of Anhalt writes: "Architecture and visual surface art are combined. Keinstar's experience with plastic art is particularly evident in the relief structure and the thermal deformation of the glass. The colors of the windows immerse the church interior in a new light. " dr Holger Brülls from the Saxony-Anhalt State Office for Monument Preservation and Archeology calls the project "a significant enrichment for the regional art landscape".
