This mill dates from 1811. Almost 15 years later, the De Arend mill burned down, but a year later the mill started again. The last time a major restoration took place was in 1990 and it still shines in Wouw.

Windmill "De Arend" in Wouw was built in 1811, so more than 200 years ago. On a plot where a mill had stood before that time, the Westmolen (burnt down in 1533). The first owner was Pierre Aerden, a baker in Essen. His brother Jacobus became the first miller. Unfortunately, this mill did not end well either, because on the night of October 21, 1825, the mill burned down to the stone attic. In 1826, however, the mill was repaired in such a way that it could be used again. The Aerden family then operated the mill until the end of 1913. From 1914 Ko Potters was the owner and he appointed his son Janus as miller. Several generations of the Potters family used De Arend commercially until the mid-1980s. A large-scale restoration was carried out in 1990. After 22 years, the mill was once again due for a major overhaul, which was carried out with the support of many sponsors and volunteers. The mill has been in excellent condition ever since.
