Haus Hall is a former manor in Gescher. The name probably goes back to the family name "Halle", which was first mentioned in a document in 1390. Haus Hall changed hands several times up until the 19th century. It has belonged to the church since 1837: the owner at the time, Carl Laprevotte, donated Haus Hall to the parish of St. Pankratius in Gescher. Bishop Johann Georg von Münster founded the Haus Hall Foundation on August 14, 1855 to run an "educational institution for neglected boys of the Catholic denomination". She offered the boys between the ages of 7 and 16 who were entrusted to her care, housing and work, mainly in agriculture and handicrafts. In 1929, the mandate was expanded to include the care of people with disabilities. (stolen from Wikipedia)
