After the last Franciscans left the Kloster Altstadt (end of 2014) due to shortage of new talent, the monastery buildings were taken over by the Verein Bayerische Musikakademie Hammelburg e.V.
With funding from the Free State of Bavaria, the renovation of the former convent building is now under construction for around 10 million euros.
