A first church was probably built shortly after 1280 when the parish was founded. Excavations have shown that the original church was much larger than the original. The current church was built in the Gothic architectural style, around 1420-1430. The 15th-century church building was dedicated to Gregorius (or Joris). After the collapse of the nave and tower in 1782, they were not rebuilt and the bricks were reused for the wall of the smaller choir, on top of which a ridge turret was installed.[1]
