Around the turn of the century, the master blacksmith Sebastian Schubert, who lived in Pettstadt, is said to have once not complied with the request of a police patrol (to leave the pub at a late hour), but instead replied:
I'll do it the way I want!"
He found a lenient judge in the Royal Bavarian District Court in Bamberg: The lawyer could not see any offensive or rebellious behavior and acquitted the defendant.

"Do it like the Pettstadt blacksmith" has since become a well-known saying in the region when someone wants to get their way. A notice board and a memorial commemorate this.
