The 5-lake hike is beautiful and fascinating. The mountain lakes seem almost surreal with their bright colors and how the mountains reflect in it is uniquely beautiful!

However, the 5-lake hike attracts enormous people. So if you have the opportunity to make this highly recommended hike during the week, necessarily.

Hiking highlight Wildsee - is due to the 5-lake hike!
From Wangs we take the gondola and chairlift up to the Pizolhütte (CHF 46 up and down) to take the panoramic mountain trail first and then the 5-lake hike. The 5-lake hike begins after a short detour to the Wangsersee with a crisp climb over easily accessible scree and ends with an unforgettable view of the Wildsee with its magical bluish color. Even if the lake highlight is already here, the rest of the varied tour with constantly new, breathtaking panoramic views and three other lakes (including the equally impressive Schottensee) offers more than enough to make the hearts of mountain enthusiasts happy.
Highly recommended and if possible do it during the week.

After the steep and arduous climb, the first view of this beautiful lake is a real experience!

The train for the 5 lakes tour (i.e. to Pizol hut or to Gaffia) costs 46 CHF

Pizol glacier, funeral on September 22, 2019
In Sunday clothes for the funeral of the Pizol glacier: the consequences of climate change cannot be overlooked.
On Sunday, September 22nd, there was a mood of mourning in Pizol. The Pizol glacier, or rather its measly remnants, were bid farewell with a ceremony. The meeting point for the event was the "foot of the former glacier". The day was organized by Fastenopfer, Bread for All, the Alpine Initiative, Greenpeace, oeku and the Swiss Climate Protection Association.

At the Wildseelücke above the lake, it can be very crowded at the weekend for the high season. It is best to walk a short distance towards the glacier, there are usually no people left and you can enjoy the view in peace.

Impressive summit panorama - with luck twice to see: also mirrored in the Wildsee.

Very beautiful mountain lake, but the path from the Pizolhütte is pretty crowded.

Idyllic mountain lake at almost 2500 m. Water color highly variable depending on the circumstances (so not always turquoise).

The green shimmering Wildsee lies in the Pizol area at 2435 meters above sea level below the Wildseeluggen. In an alpine mountain landscape, the mountain lake can be found a few hundred meters north of the Pizol glacier and from the summit of the Pizol. The Wildsee is located in Melser municipality in the canton of St. Gallen. From the mountain station of the Pizolbahnen you can reach the Wildsee in a one-hour hike. Especially in the warmer hiking months, this hiking trail is fairly to very heavily populated.

Unfortunately, the Pizol Glacier is now over, it's frightening how quickly it has retreated.
