"The Royal Saxon Triangulation (here with its historical name) is a land survey carried out in the territory of the Kingdom of Saxony between 1862 and 1890, with the simultaneous creation of a trigonometric network.

The aim was to record the territory of the state in a scientifically and geodetically precise manner and to create the basis for the production of precise maps by establishing permanently marked reference points." - de.wikipedia.org/wiki/K%C3%B6niglich-S%C3%A4chsische_Triangulirung

Unfortunately, none of the surrounding mountains can be seen from the pillar, which stands in the middle of the forest. But the climb up the observation tower is worth it.

From the station, the stations of the 1st order (50-60km) from the north to the right were measured. Pfaffenberg, Fichtelberg, Kapellenberg, Stelzen and Kuhberg and the 2nd order stations (20-30km) from the north to the right: Schönheide, Hohenbrand, Schöneck and Kiel.

I always thought that the Aschberg was on German territory, but I was about 60 m wrong.
You should visit it when you visit the Aschberg Alm, everything is explained nicely in Czech and German. It is also a triangulation point.
      That was new to me!!
