Talamanca del Jarama is a haven of medieval history in the northern Madrid countryside. The Roman bridge built over the old course of the Jarama bears witness to this era.

During the Andalusian period it was a walled enclosure; several vestiges remain of its perimeter of more than 1,200 meters, as well as access doors.

Under Christian control, a charterhouse and a Romanesque church were built here, of which the apse remains standing. In addition, it has many more buildings.

The building currently occupied by the Town Hall dates back to the 17th century and is located on Fuente del Arca Street. Its original use was as stables and warehouses for the Duke of Osuna. It was rehabilitated in 1992 and has since been converted into a Town Hall on the ground floor, and a municipal library on the upper floor. Highlights on the ground floor include the large nave divided into three bays by two rows of Tuscan limestone columns, and on the upper floor, an interesting wooden framework that supports the roof built using the pair and knuckle system.
