1933老场坊 (LaoChangFang) was the former slaughterhouse of Shanghai. It was designed by British architects and built by a Chinese developer. It was the largest slaughterhouse in Shanghai at the time, and its architecture is truly unique.
It was designed to keep cattle and people separate - with ramps for the cattle and stairs for the workers. It had thick walls to keep it cool inside even in summer.
Today it houses a few boutiques, cafes, and an event space. It is popular with photographers because the architecture and the atmosphere are special.
This highlight marks the front entrance to the building.
