It's also worth driving onto the grounds behind the building.

      Nordwolle administration building

      Tower of the administration building

The Nordwolle administration building, headquarters of the North German Wool Combing & Worsted Spinning Mill (NW&K) in Delmenhorst, Nordwollestrasse 10 and Am Wollelager 21, was built around 1900. Today it is an office building with various users, including: the Education Center of the Lower Saxony Economy (BNW) Delmenhorst location and the Delmenhorst job center.

      The buildings are listed buildings.[1]

      Story

Nordwolle was an important company for processing wool and worsted yarn. The number of employees grew rapidly: in 1887 there were 900 and by 1911 there were already 3,000 employees.

The four, five and six-story clinkered historic buildings were designed in the eclectic style by the Bremen architect Henrich Deetjen; They were created in the early days of the factory expansion from 1897 to 1914. The elaborate upper cornice is striking. All floors differ in the facade due to different window formats, including: with segmental arches and round arches. The facade is structured by pilaster strips, with two window axes in between and different cornices horizontally.

A six-story tower at one end emphasizes the dominance of the building. Next to it is the former gatehouse with the ram portal and the central clock.

In addition to the administration and the former porter's house (Nordwollestrasse 10), the building complex also housed the former wool warehouse/warehouse B (Am Wollelager 1-25).

From 1995 onwards, the Delmenhorst cultural office and media office were temporarily housed in the building at Am Wollelager 21. In the 2000s, the building complex was renovated and various users moved in. The Lower Saxony Economy Education Center (BNW) has had its Delmenhorst location here since 2008. Young people and adults are prepared for entry into training and work on behalf of the employment agency and the job center. The employment agency Jobcenter Delmenhorst has the address Am Wollelager 21.[2]
