Schluft is a district of the official community Schorfheide in the district of Barnim in Brandenburg.
Schluft arose from 1752 in connection with the settlement of spinners, who had invited the Prussian King Frederick II. The new settlers were to breed silkworms, avoiding the expensive imports of silk. However, the planted mulberry trees were destroyed by the frosty winters, so that neither an extensive silk production could be established, nor a sufficient income for the families was possible. So the settlers gave up spinning at the end of the 18th century, but remained in place. They turned to agriculture and forestry. - In 1855, a tavern opened in the village center, which was preserved until the 21st century.
The name derives from its location, because Schluft means among other things "narrow space" or a "valley, even narrower than a gorge".
