This exciting portion of the Devils Garden Trail takes you up on top of one of the many fins in the area. After scrambling up a low angle step, you gain the spine of a large fin and walk across its narrow and exposed ridge line with steep drop offs on either side. There are a few moments along the top of the fin where you need scramble up or down using your hands and feet, or complete a step across a gap. This unique portion of the trail is exposed, exciting, incredibly scenic, and photo opportunities appear with nearly every step.

Spectacular grade and view of the rock formations.

Very diverse; leads through a dramatic landscape of towering sandstone "fins" (rock ridges).
The trail accesses the largest concentration of natural stone arches in the park. The first section is a wide, well-maintained path and leads directly to Landscape Arch, the longest arch in North America.
The trail becomes more challenging beyond Landscape Arch. The full loop, known as the Primitive Trail, requires surefootedness, easy scrambling over slickrock (smooth rocks), and good orientation skills.
Important arches (besides Landscape Arch): Tunnel Arch, Pine Tree Arch, Double O Arch, and optionally Private Arch and the Dark Angel rock needle.
Total length (complete loop including all detours): approximately 12 km (7.9 miles).
