Traces of the Anabaptist community can be found here in the Wimpfen Forest. These Anabaptists were a persecuted branch of the evangelical church who practiced their faith underground. Since the Wimpfen Forest was and is an exclave, "law enforcement officers" rarely came here, which meant that the Anabaptists could better pursue their faith in this place.
