The Abthaus is located at Abtstrasse 6.
In times of need, the archbishops found shelter in the Abthaus - the town house of the Harsefeld monastery - because Buxtehude was well fortified until the 17th century. The cellar dates from the first decades of the 15th century. The current building was probably erected between 1618 and 1628, as indicated by the inscription on a beam inside the house. The gable-end hall house was preserved in its substance until 1975, when it was acquired by the local history association Buxtehude e.V. and rebuilt almost unchanged using the original components.

The Abthaus was originally the town house of the Archabbots of Harsefeld. Archabbot Gerlach Schulte had already acquired the property in 1399.

The Abbot's House was originally the town house of the Archabbots of Harsefeld. Archabbot Gerlach Schulte acquired the property as early as 1399. To preserve this important architectural monument, the local history society took over the house in 1973. Some of the timber framing was removed and restored on the Zimmermannsplatz "according to the old customs of the ancestors." The exposed subsoil was examined and professionally restored to its original condition. The original floor was rediscovered (with dog paw prints) and installed on the ground floor. A richly ornamented decorative beam bearing the inscription "Paridon Korff" was discovered in the area of the old "Black Kitchen," which was reintegrated into the timber framing in the entrance area. The carvings on the consoles depicting apostles and the entrance gate are striking features of the facade's timber framing. Unfortunately, both objects are not identical to the original.
