St. Thomas has a wild history. It was founded in 1865 by mormons. When they realized, they settled in the state of Nevada and had to pay taxes, they decided to leave the small town. It was rebuilt in the late 1800s, but did not last too long. When the decision was made to flood the area, the settlers were paid around 900,000 Dollars for the whole town to leave. For decades, the site was buried under 60 feet of water. Due to the lasting drought, Lake Mead slowly retreated, so that St. Thomas emerged again.
