The best seasons for the Teide hike are spring (from April) and autumn (until November). In winter it can be very cold on the volcano and there is snow, then the hiking trail is closed. In the summer holidays of the Spaniards (July and August) it is usually very crowded up there, and you have to expect long waiting times (especially for the descent) of the cable car. In addition, there is a very intense solar radiation – the sun is directly overhead at midday and there is no shade.
