Hölnstein Castle, also known as Holstein, is the ruin of a spur castle at 817.8 m above sea level. NHN high cliffs eastwards above Stetten unter Holstein, a district of Burladingen in the Zollernalb district in Baden-Württemberg. The castle was probably built around 1275 by the Lords of Hölnstein, from 1388 parts were sold again and again, so it was acquired - at least partially - in 1404 by Heinrich von Killer zu Ringingen, in 1431 the castle was inhabited by Renhard Nerer, son-in-law of Konrad von Hölnstein. In 1474 the entire castle was sold to Count Jobst Nikolaus I von Zollern. Count Eitel Friedrich von Zollern had "the tower on the Burgstall near Stetten" demolished in 1585. In 1985 the ruins were repaired by the city of Burladingen. The former castle complex with pre-fortifications, protected by an eastern and southern wall with moats, had a large and small cave and a passage cave and had a residential tower with a vaulted cellar, courtyard and buildings. Extensive ring and building wall remains of the complex are still preserved.

From the Holstein ruins you have a beautiful view of the Lauchert valley 👍😊. The ruin is also undermined. There are caves underneath. These are a little hidden.
