Spanning 223 acres along the Kohala Coast, the Puakō Preserve houses an expansive collection of over 3,000 petroglyphs carved into lava rock. These ancient Hawaiian etchings, some dating back to 1200 AD, give a glimpse into the lives of the area's early inhabitants, with intricate designs depicting events like births along with human, canoe and turtle motifs.
