The Lava Falls Trail from the base of Vulcan's Throne is just three miles long, but you will climb all the way down to the Colorado River and up again. So take your time and avoid the heat. The trail takes you down to the infamous Lava Rapids – one of the most dangerous rapids in the Grand Canyon section of the Colorado River. If you are lucky, you can see some rafters maneuvering through the wild waters.
