Kieselbronn Goat: The bronze figure in the square in front of the savings bank was donated by Christel Theilmann in 2001.

"Goat-sucker" is the traditional nickname for the people of Kieselbronn.

"The anecdote of the Goat-sucker" The following popular story is linked to this: "One year, when winter fodder for the livestock was very scarce, a farmer from Kieselbronn discovered a green clump of grass in the church tower's gutter. He wanted to give it to his already very hungry goat. He simply tied a rope around its neck and, using a hook, hoisted the poor animal up the church tower. When the goat's tongue was hanging out halfway up, the farmer said: 'Look, she's still licking it.' The goat, of course, didn't survive the ordeal."

The Kieselbronn Gaiß, which refers to the nickname of the Kieselbronn residents, namely "Gaißeschenner" (=goat-slayers). According to the story, fodder for the cattle was scarce at the time. A clever farmer spotted a last patch of greenery on the roof of the church tower. He wanted to give this greenery to his starving goat (Gaiß). He placed a rope around its neck and pulled it up the church tower. Halfway up, the farmer exulted: "How greedily it sticks out its tongue!" Unfortunately, the story didn't have a happy ending...
