In the early twentieth century, owning a bicycle and knowing how to ride it was a rarity, a luxury we would say today. So, five friends from Fontanile felt like taking a grand week-long trip with Switzerland as their destination. Approximately 600 km were covered. Their return was timed based on the receipt of a postcard, and they were welcomed with applause and hugs by a large crowd. The village talked about it for a long time.
