It's really worth while exploring the beautiful countryside not to far from Madalena together the magnificent view looking across the ocean. However be aware, that it can get ver hilly very quickly and I ended going up and down hills looking for the poorly signed Lava Caves. The roads were mostly good and can be done on a road bike
