Pearl Street Park was once a bustling hub of Brooklyn, the largest Black neighborhood in Charlotte, The late 1960s was the beginning of an end for Brooklyn as businesses, churches, homes, and families were displaced, resulting in the near-complete destruction of the area. Mecklenburg County's invested $4.75 million in the reconfiguration of Pearl Street Park making it what it is today. Officially rededicated in December 2021, the 11 acre park stands as a testament to resilience, community spirit, and the restoration of historical and ecological significance.
