The Mittelalp in the Kleinwalsertal is more than just a hut at high altitude, it offers you a genuine mountain experience: If you like you can look over the shoulders of the hut warden and dairymaid Gerhard Hilbrand.

The own products from the alpine dairy, alpine and agriculture are processed directly in the Mitellalp mountain hut. This results in tasty soups, hearty hot and cold dishes and above all hearty snacks. The Senner's pride and joy is of course the handmade mountain cheese.

Real alpine milk, beer, wine, oven-fresh cake or strudel with hot coffee - heavenly delights await you here. Since worth the three-hour hike from Riezlern to the hut twice. On the terrace, the culinary highlight will be crowned with the appropriate panorama.

If you want to visit Mittelalp anyway, you should definitely book the cheese tour in the Walserhaus. On the way to the alp, the nice mountain guide, whose name I unfortunately no longer remember, already provides valuable tips and hiking highlights.
On the alp itself, the dairyman can hardly be surpassed by sympathy. He explains the production of cheese in an incomparable way.

Inviting refreshments with shady terrace and very friendly service. The best is the food, either directly from our own production (cheese and milk) or from local / regional products (erwa beef or deer).

The Mittelalpe is on the Höhenweg between the Söllereckbahn and Riezlern. The Mittelalpe is managed by the Hilbrand family. The landlord Gerhard is a trained dairyman and vouches for excellent mountain cheese. Every Wednesday there are guided tours to the Mittelalpe. This is interesting and exciting, as Gerhard shows how real mountain cheese is made and introduces you to alpine farming. The Mittelalpe is one of 9 alpine pastures in the Kleinwalsertal.
