Darthuizen is a red-brick country house, built in 1918, which is centrally located in the landscape park and slightly elevated, so that there are views over the surrounding forest-lined meadows. The large-scale, but enclosed garden and park layout in a landscape style, was carried out after a design by L. A. Springer from 1917.

Originally there was a homestead, De Bonen, on the territory of Darthuizen. It was rebuilt in 1834 and was part of the Broekhuizen estate. Commissioned by Mr. W. Pauw van Wieldrecht, Darthuizen was built in 1918 to a design by architect J. Stuivinga, on the site of the now demolished farm. There is also a sheepfold on the Darthuizen site. It was rebuilt in the same shape after a fire in the 1930s. Near the sheepfold is the former staff residence, which was completely renovated in 1998.
