The former parish of Burkhardsrieth was first mentioned in 1326. In 1936 it became a branch.

A fire destroyed the church in 1879 and its reconstruction was completed in 1882. Expositus Men left a renovation in 1964

The origin of the pilgrimage church of St. Ulrich possibly goes back to one of the landgraves Ulrich von Leuchtenberg, who lived in the 14th century.
