Hiking
The monastery or hermitage of Timios Prodormos was built according to the architectural model of the Xenophontos Abbey of Athos on the upper side of the village of Acritochori, at the foot of Mount Kerkini (Belles).
The Hermitage is located on the international hiking trail 54/6 and offers a panoramic view over Lake Kerkini. It falls under the sacred metropolis of Sidirokastro and today (1997) 40 nuns live there engaged in hagiography, priestly handwork, traditional weaving and gold embroidered pieces.
