In the preface to the parish chronicle of Höbersbrunn (1748 – 1906), a plague column is mentioned as the forerunner of the chapel. In 1855, Josef Wunsch had the four niches of the column decorated with portraits of the four evangelists.
In 1886 the plague column was removed
and in its place the Trinity Chapel was built by the founder Michael Pfaffl as a thank you for recovering from a serious illness.
