The first weekend of September of each year is commemorated in the village on the day of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. After two days of celebrations, a mass is celebrated in the village square and the carving of the Immaculate Conception is carried in procession through all the streets of the village, accompanied by a comparsa. During the procession it is sung and prayed, and in all the houses it stops, at which time the families take the opportunity to offer sweets and the typical torrao chickpeas, which is why it is known among the countrymen as the Procession of the Chickpeas. At the end of the procession, the youngest carry the carving and start an uphill race with it on their shoulders, at a great pace. These days the village is filled with neighbors and visitors and comes alive.

The village sits on the Pilillas-Palancares aquifer, a Cenomanian-Turonian dolomite formation with Miocene limestone overlays.
