The bizarre shape of the Neudeker Felsen - also known as the Prince's Nose - was created by weathering and erosion of the softer rock areas along crevices, combined with erosion by the Rotava River and the mining of the granite by humans. The rock consists of a coarse-grained, light gray to slightly pink colored granite. The main components of Neudeker granite are the minerals quartz, feldspar (orthoclase and plagioclase) and mica (above all the dark mica biotite, subordinately also the light mica muscovite).
