In 2008, Sonja Houben and Wim Winthaegen converted the old mill into one of the finest guesthouses in the region. The couple had twenty years of experience in high-quality gastronomy and had a clear goal: to create a place that combines luxury and tranquility in the middle of nature. And that is exactly what De Keyartmolen does. In the historic walls, the B&B offers elegant interiors and excellent service. There are eight luxurious guest rooms to choose from - four duplex rooms and four more on the ground floor. The cozy rooms have a bathroom with a walk-in shower and a separate toilet. The bathrobe is already waiting for you...

The Keyartmolen is a watermill, located at the Keyartstraat 4 in Tongerlo, on the Itterbeek near the Zuid-Willemsvaart.

The mill, which functioned as a flour mill, was first mentioned in 1139. The mill was then leased by the son of the Graaf van Loon to Aernout van de Keyart. For centuries the mill was owned by this family, but in 1681 Jean d'0ssorio de la Peina, in the service of the Spanish king, turned out to be the owner. In 1850 the mill was rebuilt in stone. In 1923 the undershot wheel was replaced by a turbine. Until 1985, the mill operated on water power, after which it was occasionally still used electrically. In 2012, the mill is not in working order, but restoration is being considered, with the aim of generating electricity.

A bed and breakfast was set up in the mill farm in 2010.
