The Mondsee is about 1.2 kilometers long and on average 200 to 300 meters wide lake in the southeast of Saxony-Anhalt, about three kilometers southeast of Hohenmölsen and ten kilometers northwest of Zeitz. Viewed from the air, the lake resembles a slight crescent moon, hence its name. Along the northern shore there are some secluded idyllic spots amidst tranquil natural landscapes right by the lake.
