It all started in 1968 on the corner of Steenweg and Bergstraat with Schinderhannes on horseback. On White Thursday 1971, the sculpture by the artist Dong Wong Lu Hing was ceremonially unveiled and in 1971 it disappeared without a trace like thieves. The performers of the main roles seized the initiative and two years later a new Schinderhannes galloped into the pedestrian zone with his revolver raised.
