Steady as you go you will walk down into Kyangjin Gumba the highest village in the area.
This village has everything you need for a few days mountain retreat.
Choosing Nurling Guest House we were welcomed by a friendly family run hotel that boasts hot showers, clean and basic rooms, western ensuite toilet, good food and the best bakery in the region.
They also have a decent espresso coffee machine that offers all manners of modern coffee and the best hot chocolate you could ask for, and that's before you spot the cake.
Next door to the bank/atm the area is quiet and relaxed with a gentle tourist buzz.
If you agree to eat your meals at the hotel then you can have your room for free - as with any Teahouse trek the prices of food ascend as you do in meters.

Paid for WiFi R500/£3.30 x 500mb bought via hotel. Better connection but reliant on electricity.
Electricity is mainly solar powered and does tend to switch off during the day to reserve for the evening.
Water is heated by solar, in Oct there is plenty of sun during the day but the water temp ranges between like warm and hot. Hot showers are shared - cold showers ensuite.
Often the water freezes in the pipes overnight so some ensuite sinks/toilets don't work first thing.
The temp of the village is consistently warm during the day, if sat in the bakery Square you can even remove your jacket but when in the open the wind chill keeps you wrapped up in your down jacket.
Evenings as soon as the sun goes down is cold as to be expected at almost 4000m.
End Sep/Oct/Nov/Dec sees consistently warm and sunny days with clear blue skies early till about 3pm.
From 3pm the clouds creep up the valley and often cause a white out until 6pm when the skies clear again.
Treks/hikes should begun early with the intention of being back at your hotel base by 4pm.
There are a huge amount of treks to be enjoyed from this base which means leaving your heavy bags at your hotel and walking with lighter day sacks.
Guides and equipment can be sourced from the village.
For a series of achievable treks please see my collection.
