The weir is 200 meters from the Hermitage of the Virgen de Gracia. It is an engineering work to raise the water of the Mijares River, built with ashlar masonry and mortar with buttresses at the outlet of the meander under the upper bridge that crosses it. The mission of the dam was to raise the water from the river so that through ditches it could irrigate the orchards in the Villarreal area.
