A rare sun-worshiper lives on the adjacent pastures: the sand lizard. In order to offer them suitable habitats again, the Schleswig-Holstein Nature Conservation Foundation used an excavator to create sandy areas and piles of root stumps. Sand lizards can soak up the sun on logs and stones in the foundation land.New habitats have also been created for the severely endangered common spadefoot toad in the form of small bodies of water in a sandy environment. The vegetation is kept in check by the biting and biting of the grazing animals and creates open sandy areas. At the same time, the strictly protected spadefoot toads were resettled.
