The most difficult of the three southerly entrances/exits to Thaxted. The River Chelmer is in a valley. Take your pick - if you approach Thaxted from the southwest, there's a long downhill to the river and then a steep uphill...or, heading southwest out of Thaxted, there's a steep downhill and then the long drag uphill.

Nice run down hill from Thaxted allowing good turn of speed to the valley then up the other side. Great fun have done this section numerous times and look to beat speed record each time.
