Braders

Electric hybrid bike rider, likes simple loop rides with cafe or pub on route. Off-road and quiet country lanes are favourite.

Now riding Cube Kathmandu step through, Kiox 300, Bosch Drive Unit Performance CX Generation 4 (85Nm) with 750 battery and really enjoying riding it.

My wife has a Cube Supreme with 500 battery and hub gears which she is very happy with and no problems with hills or keeping up with me for speed or range.

Average distance for a ride for us is 15 to 25 miles all planned and ridden with Komoot.

I found that the battery in my phone (unless fully charged) did not last a 3 hour ride and refreshment stop. So added a smartphone grip as Bosch calls it, which replaces the Kiox display. It wireless charges my S24 Ultra and uses the Bosch phone app as display.

I would prefer a phone charging cable from the Kiox unit or USB connection to battery but as always Bosch wants you to buy its kit.

However, I use Komoot in preference to Bosch navigation as I find it easier to read while riding. I do not really access or use any of the metrics in the Kiox display. In fairness you can plan in Komoot and transfer to the Bosch app navigation so it's all about preference I suppose.

We load the bikes on a rack on the rear of our caravan and head off anywhere within a 3 hour radius of Huntingdon.

Swift Caravans are the only one we have found that caters for bike riders allowing a rack to be fitted on the rear wall of the caravan. There is a weight limit but it seem OK so far for our 2 bikes (without batteries).
