James Finlayson, a Scottish engineer, established a factory here in 1820. In 1828 the production of cotton textiles was started with the machines he had built.

The old halls of the Finlayson textile company now house cafes, bars, restaurants, a spy museum, meeting rooms and pop-up stores.
When I was there in June 2024, some of the rooms were empty. I like the concept of converting the buildings, which look pretty cool from the outside, in the middle of the city to revitalize the neighborhood.
It's definitely better than demolition or vacancy!
