Construction of Gleina Castle began in 1689. In 1830 the Prussian chamberlain Bernhard von Helldorff bought the castle and manor. In 1945 his descendants were expropriated. The castle was until 1996 u. a. used as a home for the elderly, crèche and rural outpatient clinic. Refurbishment work began in 2007.
