This monument, which stands a little off the hiking trail, is dedicated by the Siebengebirge Beautification Association to its president, Heinrich von Dechen. There are two benches nearby.

Ernst Heinrich Carl von Dechen, called Heinrich, (* 25 March 1800 in Berlin; † 15 February 1889 in Bonn) was a professor of mining, geologist and inventor.
The monument looks freshly renovated (beginning of 2021) and from here you have a nice view of Drachenfels, Drachenburg and the Rhine Valley.

Ernst Heinrich Carl von Dechen was born on 25.03.1800 in Berlin. Dechen studied in 1818 at the Bergakademie in Berlin and was from 1834 to 1841 Professor of Mining Science at the University of Berlin. Under him many large projects arose in the Aachner and Bonner area. He died in Bonn in 1889.
