The area of the archaeological site is about 5 hectares; the western part is owned by the Franciscan Custody of the Holy Land, the eastern part belongs to the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem.

In 1931 a small Greek Orthodox Church dedicated to the Twelve Apostles was built. The associated monastery is subordinate to the Patriarch of Jerusalem.
