Hiking
The town of Carreña is the capital of the council of Cabrales. It is located in the Casaño river valley, at the foot of the Cuera mountain range. The town has a beautiful medieval bridge that crosses the Ría stream, as well as the chapel of Nuestra Señora de la Salud, which is reputed to be one of the most picturesque in the region. Carreña also has several accommodations and restaurants.

Carreña is on the connecting road between Cangas de Onís and Arenas de Cabrales. In addition to the small chapel, the place has a few other beautiful small houses and is very picturesque if you walk up through the narrow streets from the through road. There is a large car park on the through road, which is a good starting point for a hike in the valley between the Picos de Europa and the Sierra de Cuera in front of it.
