The Park San Michele and its typical southern vegetation offer a breathtaking viewpoint of the city.
The park with 12,000 square meters of green space is located in Castagnola, on the slopes of Monte Brès. In the park there are various buildings and architectural elements: the chapel dedicated to St. Michael, the rustico and various stone sculptures. Behind the chapel is the main terrace from which you can enjoy a unique view. The city below and its traffic seem unimportant in view of the horizons and the views that the view encompasses. Lake Lugano, with its small harbors, the Lido and the long lake promenade are all visible from here. From here the Monte San Salvatore shows itself in all its splendor. In the distance, the Alps stand out for a variety of shapes and colors that are particularly impressive at sunset. On the left, the view extends to the Lombardy plain after it sweeps over Melide, Campione, Bissone, the landing sites on the opposite bank and the flanks of Monte San Giorgio and Sighignola. The Park San Michele also offers rich vegetation. Its paths lead through a typical southern flora with wisteria, oleanders, oaks, elms, hornbeams, ash and laurels. The atmosphere of this heavenly place, its picturesque views and the emotions that nature awakens, move the city below with its traffic far away.
