The town hall is a historic building in the heart of the city and one of the most striking structures on the main square. Originally built in the Gothic style, it was extensively remodeled in 1653. The original façade was decorated with images and sayings from the town's founding legend – a reference to Ried's deep historical roots.

The ground floor once housed the so-called "Bread Vault," where local bakers took turns selling their bread. A public "Weighing Vault" was also part of the building. The so-called "Citizens' Room" was even converted into a "decent civil detention center" in 1791.

In 1893, the architect Raimund Jeblinger gave the town hall a romantic character, details of which, such as the tower and the portal, are still preserved today. Despite several renovations, the building has remained a symbol of the city's identity and is now the seat of the city administration.

The former Gothic town hall was completely rebuilt in 1653, and the facade was decorated with pictures and sayings from the founding legend.

It housed a "bread vault" in which the local bakers were allowed to take turns selling their bread, and a public "weighing vault". The "Bürgerstübl" became a "decent civil arrest" in 1791. In 1893 the building received a romantic character, of which only a few details (tower, portal) are reminiscent today. The council hall with the mayor's gallery and imperial portraits (Maria Theresa, Joseph II, Franz Joseph I.) that refer to the historical events of 1779 (Peace of Teschen - the Innviertel comes to Austria) and 1857 (city elevation) have been preserved.
