The Wasserburg Aue is definitely worth a visit. Even if it is usually not open and can only be viewed from the outside. It is the ruin of a moated castle from the 13th century. It was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War and only the foundations remain. In 1920 a tower was built into the ruins. There has been a small castle museum on 4 m² since 2016. Opening hours are available on request from the Aue home club.
On the outer wall of the castle, the well-preserved tree disc of a 400-year-old oak tree, which was recovered from the Werratalsee and stood in the Werratal 5000 years ago, is also on display.
