Railway line Glonn - Grafing 1894-1971
Between 1894 and 1971 there was a railway line between Glonn and Grafing with stops at Zinneberg, Moosach and Taglaching. On May 26th, 1894, after a 10-month construction period, the 10.6 km long Glonn-Grafing local railway was inaugurated with firecrackers and cannon shots.
At that time, the train was the only efficient means of transport and transportation. At the beginning of the 20th century, the railway became increasingly important for excursions. Many Munich residents visited the attractive area around Glonn for their summer vacation.
Not infrequently, this local railway served as the narrative background in the novels of the Glonner writer Lena Christ. The former station building stood at today's Glonn Bahnhofsplatz bus stop.

The former engine shed can still be seen as the current residential building on Bahnhofstrasse, while retaining its original architecture.
In the winter of 1966/67, the railway lost its raison d'être in favor of a bus line and the upgrading of the Glonn-Grafing route. Passenger traffic was discontinued in May 1970, followed by freight traffic a year later.
Even today, the railway embankment is reminiscent of the former Glonn - Grafing local railway as a much-used hiking and farm trail.

After many years, the old railway embankment has been reclaimed by nature on both sides and has thus become a beautiful piece of hiking trail.
