The Haard is one of the largest contiguous forest areas on the northern edge of the Ruhr area. It is part of the Hohe Mark Nature Park. Dense deciduous and coniferous forests alternate with isolated meadows and wetlands. If you like hiking or walking in nature, you can follow the well-signposted hiking routes in the Haard, such as the Hohe Mark Steig or the exciting Haardgrenzweg.
