The oaks of Ichterloh are a fascinating natural highlight in the Ichterloh nature reserve in North Rhine-Westphalia, near Ascheberg. This region is characterized by a diverse forest landscape, including old oak-hornbeam forests and woodruff-beech forests. Particularly impressive is the "old oak of Ichterloh", which is a striking vantage point on a hill and offers a wide view over the typical Münsterland park landscape. This oak is also historically significant, as Ichterloh Castle once stood nearby, but was demolished in 1875 after around 500 years of history.

The area is not only known for its botanical diversity, but also for its rich fauna, including five species of woodpecker such as the great spotted woodpecker, green woodpecker, middle woodpecker, lesser spotted woodpecker and black woodpecker. An enchanting landscape unfolds, especially when the wild garlic is in bloom, from late April to early May. Hikers and cyclists can explore the beauty of this region on well-marked trails that lead to a picnic area, among other places.
